Photo quilts are special. They honor a person, moment in time, or idea. We're a family of nerds, so I focused my first photo quilt on the memories our family has made celebrating our interests. All people are quilt-worthy and so are all memories. Here's ours...

You'll see I tried a few blocks to see how I liked the effect. Full-size blocks - I need to stretch the margins of the photo. A polaroid block - wouldn't this be great all over a quilt. And my current favorite block, the economy block to show off some novelty fabric. I foundation paper pieced the center in case the comic book theme didn't hit you in the face strong enough.

I played with minky on the back, so everyone could touch how luxurious it is. I'm really loving using flannel as the batting. It gives the quilt enough body for the stitches to lock, but keeps the quilt light enough that the minky doesn't smother me. The drape of the quilt is maintained with the flannel and a loose edge to edge quilting design. I hid some hearts in this meander.

I loved working on this quilt to honor my family and their support. It captures early dates, birthday parties, and the birth of my son. I love looking at it. The photos are sublimation printed on satin here in the studio and it's a permanant washable process. The colors are so vivid and bright and won't change over time. I look forward to working with you to preserve your memories in a cuddly blanket for you to love or gift.
